ALPACA: the Austin Local Psychedelic Artist Collaborative Association
A community built by psychedelic artists.
👽🌈✨🦙✨🌈👽
ALPACA exists to unite Austin-area creators who work in psychedelic, visionary, and experimental mediums. Our goal is simple: strengthen the local scene by cultivating higher artistic quality, deeper collaboration, and real economic opportunities for the artists who actually drive the culture.
The psychedelic art presence in Austin has grown, but too much of it stays shallow, cliquish, and repetitive. We’re building a community that does the opposite. ALPACA is open, supportive, and focused on elevating the craft. We bring artists together to learn, cross-pollinate ideas, share resources, and collectively sharpen their creative identity. Instead of gatekeeping, we expand the circle.
🦙 What We Stand For 🦙
• Collaboration over isolation. Members exchange techniques, critique each other’s work, and build joint projects that are stronger than anything created alone.
• Collective prosperity. Artists split vending costs, share event access, and use ALPACA as a unified platform for selling fine psychedelic artwork without each member having to grind full-time on marketing and sales.
• A smarter approach to events. Group curation creates more compelling shows, more variety for patrons, and a stronger draw for buyers. Unique work sells best when it’s presented as part of a cohesive, themed experience.
• Community-driven growth. We promote each other’s releases, amplify each other’s socials, and push the algorithm as a team rather than competing for scraps.
• Inclusive, high-vibe culture. No elitism, no discrimination, no drama. We welcome any Austin artist with developed psychedelic aesthetics, good energy, and a desire to contribute.
• Craft over gimmicks. No AI-generated art, drug-promotion or adult-only content. The focus is genuine expression, technical excellence, and experiences worth remembering.

🦙 How We Operate 🦙
ALPACA will gradually develop into a formal non-profit with shared voting, transparent finances, and pooled resources directed toward events, workshops, and professional opportunities. Members contribute time or small shared costs during the early phase, with the long-term goal of hiring dedicated staff so artists can prioritize creating instead of hustling.
We run monthly meetups, skill-share sessions, themed group assignments, and collaborative builds. Artists from many disciplines: painting, sculpture, jewelry, digital media, projection mapping, animation, fabrication, electronics, and more are brought into the same creative ecosystem.
We also plan to develop joint vending operations. Instead of every artist buying their own booth, struggling with transport, or missing major events, ALPACA plans to build unified installations where multiple artists showcase together. High-effort opportunities like festivals, galleries, and out-of-state shows become accessible and profitable instead of financially draining.
🦙 Psychedelic Art 🦙
The term "psychedelic," coined by psychiatrist Humphry Osmond in 1956, literally means "soul manifesting" or "mind revelation" (from Greek psyche for "soul/mind" and dēlein for "to manifest/reveal"). At ALPACA, we value spirituality and visionary expressions of the divine, creating work meant to be create a sense of awe and enlightenment. Our imagery is intended to expand the viewers perception and offer a glimpse into the deep nature of our reality.
🦙 Our Vision for Shows 🦙
While details stay under wraps until launch, our exhibitions will push far beyond the generic “trippy art market.” We’re developing immersive themed experiences rooted in myth, mysticism, cosmic science, visionary futurism, ancient traditions, and experimental psychedelia. Each show is curated around a cohesive narrative, something that feels intentional, high-concept, and worth talking about.
These shows aren’t background filler for nightlife. They’re full-scale artistic worlds designed by a collective of serious creators.
🦙 Who We Are 🦙
ALPACA includes emerging and established Austin artists across painting, sculpture, digital design, graffiti, jewelry, 3D modeling, mixed media, and experimental tech-integrated art. Many more are in conversation to join, and the door stays open to anyone whose work and attitude align with the group’s values.
🦙 What We Need from Members 🦙
This community will collapse if it’s carried by one person. ALPACA only works if members show up, share opportunities, invite new artists, promote each other, contribute ideas, and help move the collective forward. The goal is to build long-term financial success for everyone involved, but the foundation has to be shared effort and shared responsibility.
We’re building a professional, collaborative psychedelic art ecosystem in Austin. Something deeper, smarter, and more ambitious than anything currently in the city. If you want to be part of a community that actually invests in its members, elevates the craft, and creates unforgettable artistic spaces, ALPACA is for you.
